Plain English, because a privacy policy nobody can read isn't protecting anyone.
This is not your HIPAA notice. If you are a client of Olympic Personal Growth Center, your treatment records are governed by HIPAA and by 42 CFR Part 2, the federal rule that gives substance use treatment records extra protection. Those rights are described in our Notice of Privacy Practices, which you receive at intake and can request any time by calling 360-681-8463.
This page covers something narrower: what happens on this website and inside the Groundwork app.
Groundwork is the recovery companion we offer alongside our programs — a day counter, journal prompts, grounding tools, your cards, and your relapse prevention plan.
The app has no accounts, no login, and no server behind it. What you type is saved in your own browser's storage, on your own phone, and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We cannot read your journal entries. Neither can your counselor. Nobody can, unless they are holding your unlocked phone.
This is a deliberate design choice. It is also a real trade-off, and you should understand both halves of it:
The app contains no analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording, and no crash reporting. It makes no requests to any third party — the fonts it uses are served from our own site rather than from Google. We do not know how many people use it, how often, or what they do in it, and we have chosen not to find out.
If you fill in our contact form, what you type — your name, phone number, email address, and message — is delivered to Olympic Personal Growth Center by our website host, Netlify, and stored there so we can respond. We use it to reply to you and for no other purpose. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it for marketing.
Please don't put clinical details in the contact form. Ordinary email and web forms are not secure or confidential channels. Telling us you'd like to talk is perfectly safe. Describing your diagnosis, your substance use, or anything else you'd want protected is better done on the phone, where we can talk properly — 360-681-8463.
Like every website, ours sits on a server that records basic technical information about requests — IP address, browser type, time, and which page was requested. Our host, Netlify, keeps these for a limited period for security and reliability. We do not use them to build a profile of you.
This site runs no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no advertising or remarketing tags, and no session-recording tools. This is not an oversight. Advertising trackers on substance use treatment pages transmit the fact of your visit to companies with no business knowing it, and that practice has been the subject of real enforcement action against healthcare organizations. We don't do it.
We set no tracking cookies. The Groundwork app uses your browser's local storage to remember your own entries, which never leaves your device, and nothing about it is sent to us.
Our curricula are sold through Gumroad, and clicking through to buy one takes you to their site, under their privacy policy and not ours.
We treat adolescents, and we take that seriously. This website is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you are a parent who believes your child under 13 has sent us information through this site, call us at 360-681-8463 and we will delete it.
A teenager's treatment records carry confidentiality protections of their own under Washington law and under 42 CFR Part 2, and those are not always the same as a parent's expectations. If you want to understand exactly what you will and won't have access to as a parent, ask us directly — it's a fair question and we would rather answer it at the start than surprise you later.
If we change how any of this works, we'll change this page and update the date below.
